There is quite a bit of aerial (and maritime) activity around the German islands in the North Sea, either as air tours or scheduled flights between mainland Germany and the islands, or short hops between the islands. OFD (Ostfriesischer-Flugdienst) is the main player there. It is a strong name in German regional aviation, even if it is not so well known elsewhere in Europe. OFD is actually a virtual carrier that includes OLT (Ostfriesischer Lufttransport) and other airlines such as FLN.
OFD was behind the creation of DLT, a German regional airline that later became the current Lufthansa subsidiary Cityline. As fot OLT, it has recently moved its headquarters to Bremen and the OLT name is still used for island hopping. Regional European flights are flown under the OLT Express Germany name. OLT Express is the new name of the former Polish airline Jetair.
