This was the first timetable published by the Spanish branch of the Italian airline ✈Meridiana. The Spanish Meridiana was the result of the merger of several charter carriers and it was also the first private airline which was allowed to fly scheduled flights. Together with its Italian partners, the idea was to build a pan-European airline group based at south European countries.
Most flights started from Valencia and had an intermediate stop at Barcelona, but at this time no airline other than Iberia was allowed to operate domestic scheduled flights and Meridiana was only allowed to sell seats to passengers on international routes.
