Transavia / Basiq Air (2001)
As you know, Transavia is currently a low fares operator within the Air France-KLM Group. It was previously a full service airline, flying charter and scheduled flights to leisure destinations under a tight relationship with KLM. In 2001 it slowly started some LCC routes using the Basiq Air name, initally flying to Barcelona and Nice.

Naysa (2000)
Although it is currently a franchise operator flying for Binter Canarias (which has outsourced most of its flights), Naysa is actually one of the oldest Spanish airlines. It was founded in 1969 in Córdoba and later switched its headquarters to the Canary Islands.
For a brief time, Naysa flew as a scheduled regional airline in the competitive inter-island market. It also flew to some destinations in Marocco, Western Sahara and Mauritania, and is still flying some charter flights.

There were many rather strange attempts at regional aviation in Spain in the late 90's and early 2000 years; ERA (European Regions Airlines), based at Vitoria was just one of them, and like most of this airlines, failed after a short while.
This airline even had problems with its name, since the European Regional Airlines Association was logically not happy about it. It was the first Embraer operator in Spain and it flew to some domestic destinations (A Coruña, Barcelona, Palma de Majorca and Seville) plus Stuttgart in Germany.
