BOAC flight guide

A partir de 1946, el Reino unido reestructuró el sector aéreo de forma que BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) era, como seguramente sabréis ya, una de las tres compañías de aviación estatales británicas, junto con BSAA y BEA. BEA (British European) volaba rutas domésticas y europeas, BSAA (British South American Airways) a América del Sur y Caribe. BSAA se fusionó en 1949  con BOAC, que inicialmente era la encargada de cubrir rutas de larga distancia y a los territorios del imperio británico.

De hecho, BOAC es claramente uno de los últimos coletazos de ese imperio, lo que se ve en su extensísima red de rutas que cubría todo el planeta. En 1974, BEA  y BOAC se unieron para formar la actual British Airways.

Este es un folleto de BOAC editado en los años 60, bastante similar a este otro de Iberia, con la típica información que hoy encontramos en la revista de a bordo: flota, rutas, etc. la empresa volaba entonces con Boeing 707 y el modelo británico Vickers VC10.

In 1946, the United Kingdom split its public owned airlines into three companies : BSAA (British South American Airways) flew to South America and the Caribbean, BEA (British European) did domestic and European routes and BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation, which merged with BSAA in 1949, flew long haul and British Empire destinations. 

BOAC was quite probably, as many think, one of the last remains of the British Empire and its huge world network provided air links within it. In 1974, BEA and BOAC merged together and the current British Airways was born. 

This is a BOAC brochure from the 60's, very similar to this other Iberia brochure I have published before. It contains the usual info usually found in the last pages of any airline inflight magazine : routes, fleet, etc. At the time, BOAC flew Boeing 707 and the British Vickers VC10 aircrafts.

Los mapas eran muchos y bastante detallados, siento no colgar más  pero no quiero estropear la publicación.
Sorry, there were many detailed maps in the booklet, but I am only posting this one because I don't want to damage it.
