... y Naranjito volaba en Aviaco

Ayer dedicamos un post de recuerdo al patrocinio de Iberia en la Expo de Sevilla y los JJOO de Barcelona, por eso me ha apetecido recordar el otro gran evento deportivo que hubo en España en el siglo XX, la Copa del Mundo España 82. Aunque Iberia era transportista oficial, por alguna razón Aviaco tuvo especial protagonismo.

I yesterday blogged about the Iberia sponsorship of the Expo 92 at Seville and the Barcelona Olympic games. Ten yers earlier, in 1982, Spain was hosting the Word Football Cup and even if Iberia was also the designated official carrier, Aviaco also took this role and edited some advertising items. 

En el anuncio de Aviaco aparece uno de sus DC-8. En aquel momento tenían, según dicen, 34 aviones (DC-9 y DC-8) y transportaban tres millones de pasajeros. Presumían también de un premio recibido en 1981 al mejor servicio al cliente (?!) pero no tengo claro quien daba el premio. La verdad es que la reputación de la aerolínea por aquel entonces no era nada buena...

Aviaco published this newspaper advert with one of its DC-8. At the time the airline had 34 planes (DC-9 and DC-8) and flew some three million passengers yearly. They also claim their costumer service was awarded a Golden Prize in 1981 (?!) but it is not clear who was awarding the prize. Actually, The airline had a pretty low reputation at the time.
