JAL Japan Airlines (1973/1974)

Bonita portada la de este horario de JAL, con su logo clásico (recientemente recuperado) , conocido como "tsuru" (grulla) y un grupo de estos animales sobre un fondo nevado.
Cada vez me fascinan más estos horarios de los años 70, tan diferentes a los actuales. JAL era "the worldwide airline of Japan" y volaba con DC-8 y 747 por tres rutas diferentes entre Europa y Japón (via Moscú o Escandinavia las más "directas", y una tercera vía con un sinfin de escalas por Asia y Oriente Medio), además de ofrecer conexiones a América (llegando a México) y el Pacífico. Muchos vuelos se operaban, además, en régimen compartido ("pool") como era habitual en esa época.

This JAL timetable shows a very nice cover with its (recently reintroduced) classic "tsuru" (crane) logo and a flock of cranes in a snowed lanscape. 

I am growing an ever increasing fascination for the route schemes used in the 70's, rather different from the current ones. JAL was flying with its 747 and DC-8 using three different routes between Europe and Japan (one convoluted route via Asia and the Middle East, and two "straighter" routes via Moscow or Scandinavia), and it was also covering most of the Pacific Ocean and a number of points in the Americas, including Mexico. As it was usual then, many flights were operated as joint pool operations with other carriers.

Hoy en día nos hace gracia esta viñeta, un tanto inocente, llamando a "cooperar para evitar secuestros" llevando un equipaje de mano reducido y dejándose cachear en el aeropuerto...

Don't you find lovely this rather naïve cartoonish security notice ? It urges the reader to "kindly cooperate to prevent hijacking" , to limit carry-on to one bag and to allow being body-checked at the airport...
