An airline offering "more room" in its economy class, reducing the number of seats and improving seat pitch, would be unthinkable today, but this was the core of the American Airlines marketing at the end of last century. After the September 11th attacks and the crisis in the air industry, American Airlines withdrew this "more room in coach" campaign.

This DialAAflight system seems ridiculously outdated today, but this was as closer as it could get to having an airline app in your cell phone !
