There were many attempts at starting low cost carriers from the mid 90's in Europe, specially in the UK. Debonair was one of these airlines. It was launched in 1996, flying with BAe 146 aircraft (an interesting option, which did not help to keep costs down) and it linked several European cities with new fare types and lower ticket prices. They still had, however, some "frills" like a frequent flyer program (well, Vueling does have one, actually) and IIRC they even had a Business class cabin before closing down in 1999.
Debonair flew from London Luton to main airports, except Rome-Ciampino and Düsseldorf, where it flew to Mönchengladbach, which was renamed as "Düsseldorf Express" airport, which is not serving scheduled flights right now. Some flights were jointly operated with ✈AB Airlines, which was another low fares airline in its early stages.
