Iberia (1979/1980), Reino Unido "Winter fare deals"

Un folleto con horarios provisionales y tarifas para el invierno de 1979/1980 con la oferta de Iberia saliendo del aeropuerto de Londres Heathrow. Casi todos los servicios con 727 y DC-9, que fueron durante muchísimo tiempo la base de su flota en el corto radio, aunque también operaban algún vuelo con DC-10. 

Lógicamente, con un mercado hiper regulado como estaba entonces, Iberia era la "número 1" entre España y el Reino Unido, ya que ninguna otra podía ofrecer una cobertura tan extensa de destinos domésticos. Literalmente no había otras opciones.

A brochure with provisional timetables and fares for the winter of 1979/1980 with the Iberia offer departing from London Heathrow airport. Almost all services with 727 and DC-9, which were for a very long time the basis of their short haul fleet, although they also operated some flights with DC-10. 

Logically, with a hyper-regulated market as it was then, Iberia was the "number 1" between Spain and the UK, as no other airline could offer such extensive coverage of domestic destinations. There were literally no other options.

VLM (2006) [completo]

VLM era una compañía flamenca que se había hecho especialmente fuerte en el London City Airport. Cosas que ocurrían en la UE cuando el Brexit, además de una idea increíblemente estúpida que salió (cero sorpresas) rematadamente mal, se veía como algo improbable...

VLM was a Flemish company that had grown particularly strong at London City Airport. Things were going on in the EU when Brexit, apart from being an incredibly stupid idea that went (zero surprises) horribly wrong, was seen as unlikely... 

El folleto es muy de principios del siglo XXI, explicando detalladamente qué es una página web, cómo se pueden buscar y reservar vuelos en ella, y qué es un billete electrónico. 

Soy también muy, pero que muy fan, de su sistema semafórico para permitir equipaje de mano. La franquicia permitida depende no sólo de la clase del billete, si no que tambien de la ocupación del vuelo. VLM operaba con Fokker 50 con capacidad máxima de 50 pasajeros. 

The brochure is very early 21st century, explaining in detail what a website is, how flights can be searched and booked on it, and what an e-ticket is. 

I am also a big, big fan of their "traffic light system" for carry-on baggage allowance. The amount of free hand luggage permitted depends not only on the class of the ticket, but also on the occupancy of the flight. VLM operated Fokker 50s with a maximum capacity of 50 passengers.

Vueling (2006/2007) [completo]

Qué joven (y pequeña, comparada con la aerolínea que es hoy en día) era  Vueling de 2006, cuando todavía se hacía llamar "de nueva generación" porque rechazaba ser catalogada de low cost   y tenía, por ejemplo, su propio programa de viajeros frecuentes Punto, algo que no era nada habitual en las aerolíneas de bajo coste. 

Por otro lado, parecía imbuida de algo parecido al espíritu del "don't be evil" con el que empezó Google, como cuando prometían no sobrevender sus vuelos... ¿Qué quedó de todo aquello?

Vueling was so young (and small, compared to the airline it is today) in 2006, when it still called itself "new generation" because it refused to be labelled as low cost and had, for example, its own frequent flyer programme, Punto, which wasunusual for a low-cost airline. 

On the other hand, it seemed to be infused with something like the "don't be evil" spirit that Google started with, as when they promised not to overbook their flights.... What's left of that?
