Yemen was still split in two different countries back in 1988. Yemenia was the national airline of Northern Yemen and it merged with the Southern carrier Alyemda some years later, thus gibing birth to the current Yemenia. They flew with a modest 727 fleet, covering an interesting route network that had destinations in the Arabian Peninsula, Africa, Europe and some cities in India.
