CLASSA (1930,1931,1932)

La Hemeroteca digital de la Biblioteca Nacional de España es una magnífica herramienta que os recomiendo visitar y utilizar de vez en cuando; entre otras muchas cosas, tienen escaneadas una revista de aviación de los años 30 llamada Ícaro. Cada número de esta revista mensual es bastante interesante, pero  incluía además el boletín de la CLASSA con información sobre la empresa, sus rutas y su flota. Aquí os dejo algunas imágenes; las revistas completas se pueden consultar en PDF en la web de la BNE.

Browsing the digital newspaper collection of the National Spanish Library (BNE), I have found that they have scanned and old monthly magazine about aviation called "Ícaro". Not only were this old magazines a rare and fascinating read, they also included a short "CLASSA bulletin" about the airline, their fleet and routes. I will post some images here; complete PDF versions of these magazines are available at the BNE website.

1931 :

Enero, 1931 : datos estadísticos y se anuncian "cantinas a bordo, con fiambres, agua mineral, etc"
January, 1931. Some statistical data. Also, some cold cuts and mineral water, etc would be from that date on available on board.

CLASSA (1929, 1931)

Últimamente estoy bastante interesado en los inicios de la aviación comercial en España en las primeras décadas del siglo XX. Hay alguna información dispersa en unos pocos libros y en internet también hay algo, pero de forma dispersa y difusa.

Este es un brevísimo post sobre CLASSA, Concesionaria de Líneas Aéreas Subvencionadas, compañía creada en 1929 durante la dictadura de Primo de Rivera  y que realmente no operaba como una empresa unificada, ya que en realidad era el fruto la unión de otras empresas, entre ellas Iberia. El mapa de la derecha es de creación propia y muestra las líneas que llegó a operar la entidad : Madrid - Barcelona (Iberia), Madrid - Sevilla (Unión Aérea Española), que más tarde se amplió a Larache y a Las Palmas, y una línea a París, vía Biarritz, en cooperación con la Compagnie Générale Aéropostale.

I am lately growing an interest on the early attempts on commercial aviation in the early years of the 20th century in Spain. There are some books around and also there is some information, albeit often incomplete, scattered around on the internet. 

This is a brief post on CLASSA (Concesionaria de Líneas Aéreas Subvencionadas, Subsidised Airlines Dealership) , an airline created in 1929 by the Primo de Rivera military directorship which actually was the union of several other airlines, among them Iberia. This map (own work) shows the routes which were operated by CLASSA : Madrid - Barcelona (Iberia), Madrid - Seville (Unión Aérea Española), which was later extended to Larache in the Moroccan Spanish protectorate and then to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. There was also a Paris- Madrid route, via Biarritz, which was flown in partnership with the Compagnie Générale Aéropostale.
