Aviaco (1980) [completo]
It is no secret that in this blog we are especially fond of the airline which was, during many years, second largest Spanish airline, although most of its history was subordinated and in the shadow of Iberia, the airline that eventually absorbed it.

In the early 1980s Aviaco had a significant presence in the domestic market (mainly as a secondary operator) and continued to operate its historical route between Palma and Algiers; there were, however, plans for growth both in the domestic network and in the international charter market, which was a very important activity for the airline.
In fact, these growth plans included the purchase of wide-body aircraft to operate long-haul flights, which were then operated with the existing DC-8 fleet. Aviaco never managed to have this type of aircraft in its fleet, but if I remember correctly it did fly with DC-10 leased from Iberia.

This was a short-lived attempt at having an Andalusian-owned airline flying regional flights within the Andalusia region, using a "100% Andalusian fleet" of Aviocar planes, which were built by CASA in Seville.
Since only Iberia and its subsidiaries were allowed to fly domestic sheduled flights at the time, the airline had to operate under as a charter carrier, even if it was a somewhat undercover sheduled scheme.

Air Malta (1980) [completo]
I really like the 80's feeling of the cover photo in this timetable. It really looks as it were someone's holiday photo (I actually have pics like this at home, but not from Malta) and not a marketed, doctored image that has been photoshopped so as to make it more interesting...
Anyhow, the world was different in 1980, much more for Air Malta which had at the time a tiny network but benefited from an almost monopolistic situation in flights to/from the island. Also, does anyone know which airline, which used the JT code, was codesharing with Air Malta on the Tunis flights ? I think it might be Tunisavia.

This timetable had a tabular section and also quick reference schedules:
China Airlines (中華航空公司) had a pretty small network back in 1980. As Taiwan home carrier, China Airlines' development has been subject to diplomatic relations with other countries. Asian destinations were just a few, and CAL also flew to the US West coast via Guam and Honolulu. It really strikes me as odd the Jeddah flight, with one stop at Dhahran. This place was a formerly Saudi Arabian international airport, served by international carriers (even Iberia flew there) but it is now an air force base.
