Air Europa "Connexió Mediterrània" (1999)

Air Europa tuvo varios intentos a lo largo de su historia de introducirse en el mercado de la aviación regional, tanto por su propia cuenta como  asociándose  con otras aerolíneas más pequeñas. 

En concreto, uno de estos intentos fue el de operar una flota de BaE ATP en vuelos domésticos, que volaban  con la marca Air Europa Express en la Península y Baleares y como Canarias Regional Air (la empresa operadora de estos aviones) en Canarias. 

Este es un folleto bastante curioso con los vuelos que volaban específicamente entre los principales destinos de Air Europa en el Mediterráneo español  (Barcelona, Alicante, Palma) y vuelos inter Baleares, que usaban a su vez una submarca propia, Connexió Mediterrània

Air Europa had several attempts throughout its history to enter the regional aviation market, both on its own and in partnership with other smaller airlines. 

Specifically, one of such attempts was to operate a fleet of BaE ATPs on domestic flights, flying under the Air Europa Express brand on the Peninsula and Balearic Islands and as Canarias Regional Air (the operator of these aircraft) in the Canary Islands. 

This is a rather curious brochure with flights that flew specifically between Air Europa's main destinations in the Spanish Mediterranean (Barcelona, Alicante, Palma) and inter-Balearic flights, which in turn used its own sub-brand, Connexió Mediterrània.

Air Europa (1996/1997), Barcelona (Avance de programación)

Un folleto de Air Europa bastante diferente de otros que he publicado antes. 

Es un avance de horarios para el aeropuerto de Barcelona, en el que se incluyen aparte de los vuelos regulares las operaciones charter (Esos vuelos a Bangkok en un 757 ! )... 

También es llamativa la presentación en la portada de los BaE ATP de Air Europa Express (la filial regional original que no tiene nada que ver con la operadora para vuelos de corto y medio radio que actualmente también usa ese nombre)

An Air Europa brochure quite different from others I have published before. 

This is a preliminary timetable for Barcelona airport, which includes not only scheduled flights but also charter operations (those flights to Bangkok in a 757 !).... 

Also striking is the presentation on the cover of the BaE ATP of Air Europa Express (the original regional subsidiary that doesn't have anything in common with the short and medium haul operator that currently also uses the same name)

Este es en realidad el mismo horario de los orígenes de Air Europa que ya publicamos hace bastante tiempo, sólo que en otro formato; 

Estos eran tiempos interesantes en la que la reciente liberalización del espacio aéreo abría la competencia a empresas privadas frente al tradicional monopolio de las aerolíneas estatales. Air Europa, que ya tenía unos años como empresa exclusivamente charter, se lanzaba al mercado doméstico y hacía mucho hincapié en su oferta con mejores precios y un servicio mejor, además de su propia clase Preferente (como la llamaba entonces Iberia), Clase Club.

This is actually the same Air Europa origins timetable that we published quite some time ago, only in a different format; 

These were interesting times when the recent liberalisation of airspace opened up competition for private companies as an alternative to the traditional State-owned airline monopoly. Air Europa, which had already been a charter-only company for a few years, was launching itself into the domestic market and was putting a lot of emphasis on its offer with better prices and better service, as well as its own Clase Preferente (as Iberia called it at the time) Business class , Clase Club. 

Air Europa entraba también en el muy competitivo y (entonces, cuando el tren de alta velocidad no existía y faltaban muchos años para que lo hiciera) lucrativo mercado del Puente Aéreo entre Madrid y Barcelona. 

Esta es una marca que Iberia intentó mantener como exclusivamente suya, y por esta razón en este folleto se insiste en que el servicio que se ofrecia era el de un auténtico (léase igual al que ofrecía IB) puente aéreo en el que se podía llegar al avión y embarcar sin reserva previa. 

Air Europa was also entering the very competitive and (at the time, when the high-speed train did not exist and was still many years away) profitable market of the Puente Aéreo Air Shuttle between Madrid and Barcelona. 

This is a trademark that Iberia tried to maintain as exclusively its own, and for this reason this brochure insists that the service offered was that of a genuine (read: the same as that offered by IB) air shuttle service in which you could arrive at the plane and board without prior reservation.  

Air Europa (2003)

Con una presentación sobria y austera hasta el aburrimiento, este es probablemente el último horario en papel que publicó Air Europa. He colgado antes en el blog algún otro que es posterior, pero se trata de ediciones locales como estas para Galicia y publicado de la mano de Viajes Ecuador. 

En cualquier caso, es muy similar a este otro de 2003 que ya había subido antes.

With a sober and austere presentation down to the point of boredom, this is probably the last paper timetable published by Air Europa. I have posted some later published timetables on the blog before, but they are local editions like these for Galicia and published jointly with Viajes Ecuador. 

In any case, it is very similar to this one from 2003 that I had already uploaded before.
