SAS Cargo (1974), Reino Unido & Irlanda [completo]

Creo que por lo diferente que es a lo que publico habitualmente, os resultará curioso este folleto centrado en los servicios de transporte de mercancías de Scandinavian. Entre otras cosas, los planos de cabina son, lógicamente, completamente diferentes a los habituales. 

También es interesante la aparición de la aerolínea tailandesa Thai. No hay que olvidar que en sus orígenes contó con la participación financiera y el asesoramiento de SAS. Es una de esas relaciones bien conocidas pero que me resultan fascinantes entre compañías de países y culturas muy diferentes, como también la que hubo entre KLM y Viasa.

I think you will find this brochure about Scandinavian's freight transport services interesting because it is different from what I usually publish. Among other things, the cabin plans are, logically, completely different from the usual ones. 

Also interesting is the appearance of the Thai airline Thai. It should not be forgotten that it was originally financed and advised by SAS. It is one of those well-known but fascinating relationships between airlines from very different countries and cultures, like the one between KLM and Viasa.

Spanair Cargo (1996/1997), Reino Unido

Un folleto de Spanair (o más bien, de su representante en el Reino Unido) con horarios, tarifas y conexiones aprovechando los vuelos de Spanair a Londres Gatwick desde Madrid y Palma de Mallorca.

The Spanair Cargo GSA in the UK issued this brochure with flight schedules, tariff info and onward cargo connections since the airline was flying to London Gatwick from Madrid and Palma.

Swissair Cargo (1992/1993)

Aunque es una guía de servicios cargueros (también aparecen listados los servicios terrestres con camiones), este folleto incluye todos los servicios de Swissair (y también de Crossair), puesto que todos los vuelos aceptaban carga.  Es interesante ver la cantidad de vuelos domésticos que operaban entonces ambas empresas.

This is a cargo guide (listing also road feeder services) but it shows the whole Swissair (and Crossair) system timetable, since all flights carried freight. It is interesting to take a look at the large Swiss domestic network operated by both airline at the time.

TAP Cargo : "Some frank talk about the true costs of shipping your goods"

Un folleto de TAP de mediados de los años 70, acerca de las bondades y ventajas del transporte aéreo de carga. Lo más interesante, aparte del mapa de rutas de la época, es que se corresponde con el breve periodo (entre 1972 y principios de los 80) en el que la empresa portuguesa utilizó el Boeing 747. Creo que fue una de las compañías que más pronto se deshizo de este modelo, que resultaba demasiado grande para sus necesidades de capacidad...

A TAP brochure from somewhere in the early - middle 70's, about shipping goods by air cargo. Other than the interesting route map, this brochure was issued in the brief period (between 1972 and the early 80's) when TAP Air Portugal flew the 747. It turned out that this aircraft was too big for their capacity needs and so they got rid of them really soon.

Realmente, me encanta el slogan: "We're as big as an airline should be", que resulta sorprendentemente inocente e irónico al mismo tiempo ...

There is some charming naievity in their slogan "We're as big as an airline should be",  and it turned to be quite ironic as well ... I really like it ...

Lufthansa / SAA cargo (1970)

A principios de los 70, Lufthansa en cooperación con SAA puso en marcha este vuelo carguero (operado con un 707 de Lufthansa) entre Frankfurt y Johannesburg, via Nairobi.

In the early 70's, Lufthansa and SAA started a joint cargo service (operated by a Lufthansa 707) between Frankfurt and Johannesburg, via Nairobi.

Singapore Airlines (2007), South-East Asian [cargo]

Una sencilla hoja que sirve de referencia para las operaciones cargueras de Singapore Airlines hacia el sur oriental de Asia Además de pertenecer a Star Alliance, la división de transporte de mercancías estaba en 2007 integrada en WOW, una alianza entre SAS, Singapore Airlines y otras aerolíneas (que más tarde la abandonaron) como Lufthansa y JAL.

A single sheet showing a quick-reference cargo guide for Singapore Airlines in southern east Asia. Singapore Airlines is not only a Star Alliance member, at the time it was also part of the all-cargo WOW alliance. Lufthansa and JAL were former members, but currently only SAS and Singapore are still engaged with WOW.

Cargolux (2008)

Aunque este blog trata sobre todo sobre aerolíneas de transporte de viajeros, de vez en cuando hacemos alguna excepción... y puesto que estos días estamos hablando de vuelos de larga distancia desde Luxemburgo, es de justicia hablar de Cargolux, fundada en los años 70 por Luxair y Loftleiðir. Un verdadero gigante del transporte carguero, que opera con Boeing 747 (es el cliente de lanzamiento del 747-8700F) y tiene una red que se extiende, literalmente, por todas partes.

This blog deals mostly with passenger airlines, but from time to time we make a little exception with cargo operations. Since we are now having a series on longhaul flights out of Luxembourg, it is just fair to have a post about Cargolux, one of the biggest all-cargo operators that flies from Luxembourg to literally everywhere around the world. Cargolux was created in 1970 by Luxair and Loftleiðir and it flies only with Boeing 747 freighter planes (it is actually the launch costumer for the 747-800F)
