TAP Express (2016), Vigo <> Lisboa
Como otros años, me pongo local(ista) en los meses de verano ... Este año se inaugura la "nueva" ruta entre Vigo y Lisboa de TAP Portugal, operado por su filial TAP Express. (Sí, lo de ponerle el apellido Express es de una originalidad extrema que nunca antes hizo ninguna otra aerolínea)
En realidad esta "nueva" ruta marca el retorno de la aerolínea portuguesa a nuestro aeropuerto después de muchos años, y esperemos que esta vez, con una estrategia comercial completamente diferente y centrada en alimentar su hub de Lisboa, sea un éxito duradero. Por su parte , TAP Express es, como seguramente sabéis, el nuevo nombre comercial de la antigua ✈Portugália.
I always post something about our local airport during the summer months ... This post is about the "new" TAP Portugal flight linking Vigo and Lisbon starting on July 1st, operated by its new TAP Express (the former ✈Portugália) branch. I wonder how many carriers have already had an Express affiliate, certainly barely an original name.
This "new" route to Lisbon means the return of the Portuguese carrier to Vigo after many years. The previous short lived attempt was a failure, and let us hope that the new one, with a very different business model and aimed at improving the Lisbon hub, wil be a success for many years to come.
En realidad esta "nueva" ruta marca el retorno de la aerolínea portuguesa a nuestro aeropuerto después de muchos años, y esperemos que esta vez, con una estrategia comercial completamente diferente y centrada en alimentar su hub de Lisboa, sea un éxito duradero. Por su parte , TAP Express es, como seguramente sabéis, el nuevo nombre comercial de la antigua ✈Portugália.

PGA Portugália (2001/2002), España
A comienzos de la década de los 2000, Portugália (PGA Airlines) tenía mucha actividad en el mercado español: no sólo volaban entre Portugal y España, también lo hacían desde Madrid a Turin y tenían algún vuelo doméstico (Barcelona - Bilbao)
In the early 2000 years, Portugália (PGA Airlines) was a frequent visitor of Spanish airports. It did not only fly between Spain and Portugal, but also flew domestically (Barcelona - Bilbao) and from Madrid to Turin.
Esto era antes de que PGA entrara en el sistema Qualiflyer; como otras empresas, en esta época tenía su propio esquema de viajeros frecuentes (Skyclub) ; además tenía un acuerdo comercial con LAM (Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique), cuando esta empresa volaba a Europa.
This was before PGA was a Qualiflyer member. Just like other small carriers, Portugália was operating its own Frequent Flyer scheme (Sky Club); also, they were on a commercial partnership with LAM from Mozambique, at a time when this African carrier was allowed to fly to Europe.
Como comenté el otro día, Portugália tenía su propio autobús de conexión entre Vigo y el aeropuerto de Oporto y lo operaba como un "vuelo" más con número propio.
As I wrote some days ago, Portugália operated its own transfer bus between Vigo and Porto airport. Those transfers appeared as regular "flights" with their own flight number and the NI airline code.

Portugália (1992/1993)
A principios de los 90, Portugália consiguió ser la principal alternativa privada a la estatal TAP, con su flota de Fokker 100, un servicio de alta calidad (era una de las pocas compañías europeas que tenía una cabina de primera clase en vuelos regionales) y sirviendo unos destinos que hasta el momento no habían sido operados por otras compañías. Hoy, como sabemos, es el operador regional de TAP y opera con el nombre de PGA Airlines.
Portugália grew quickly in the early 90's as the succesful private alternative to the state-owned TAP. They flew Fokker 100 to some European destinations that had not been flown before by other airlines and they had a very good reputation for the quality of their product. Portugália was one of the few European airlines which offered a first class cabin on its shorthaul European routes. It is currently TAP regional operator, under the PGA airlines name.
