La "Airline Alliance of Central America", liderada por ✈TACA de El Salvador, incluía también a ✈Aviateca de Guatemala, ✈Lacsa de Costa Rica, la nicaragüense ✈Nica y ✈Copa de Panamá, que sigue siendo independiente.
El resto de aerolíneas, que TACA controlaba de distintas maneras, acabaron uniéndose en una sola empresa con su nombre y marca, y esta a su vez está hoy integrada en Avianca.

✈TACA from El Salvador formed an "Airline Alliance of Central America" with four other airlines from Guatemala (✈Aviateca), Costa Rica (✈Lacsa), Nicaragua (✈Nica) and Panama (✈Copa). This was the first step before all of them, except Copa, merged into a single airline using the TACA name and logo. As you already know, TACA merged with Avianca and the former Central American airlines are now regional divisions of Avianca Holdings.
Copa es una aerolínea basada en Panamá y que opera un hub bastante exitoso con vuelos a todo el continente. Actualmente está asociada a Continental Airlines de Estados Unidos, aunque en 1997 estaba integrada en el grupo TACA ( es extraño que esto no se mencione en este horario) y al programa de viajero frecuente Latin Pass que usaban varías compañías latinoamericanas.
Copa is a Panamanian airline which serves most of the Americas from its hub at Panama airport in a rather succesful way; It is now in a strategic alliance with Continental Airlines, but back in 1997 it belonged to the TACA group, so is strange that there is no mention whatsoever to TACA in this timetable booklet. They did belong, however, to the Latin Pass frequent flyer scheme, like many other Latin American carriers.

TACA es otro nombre bien conocido en la aviación latinoamericana; Fundada en los años 30, se expandió rápidamente por el continente americano, creando varias filiales, pero más tarde pasó a ser conocida como la compañía de El Salvador.
En la década de los 90 entró en un frenesí de adquirir otras aerolíneas de la zona: TACA de Honduras, Aviateca, Nica y Lacsa ... formando el grupo TACA. (Hoy, simplemente TACA, primero Transportes Aéreos Centro Americanos y ahora Transportes Aéreos del Continente Americano) En este horario incluía también la Copa de Panamá, que después abandonó el grupo. Más tarde se unió TACA Perú ... Hoy en día la empresa tiene una red que cubre todo el continente, una serie de filiales regionales en sus mercados de origen centroamericanos y una alianza estratégica con Avianca, formando otro gigante de la aviación sudamericana.
Normalmente, las aerolíneas centroamericanas editaban sus horarios en formato tabular. Este horario del Grupo Taca está en formato "quick reference" y es bastante voluminoso, sobre todo porque lista un montón de información redundante (vuelos en código compartido entre empresas del grupo, por ejemplo, y un montón de conexiones).

TACA is another well known name in
Latin American aviation. The airline started in the 30's and it quickly
expanded through the continent, setting up new branches in several
countries. It later became the main carrier from El Salvador, and
remained so until the 90's, when it went on a shopping spree and the
Grupo TACA was born, comprising five airlines (TACA, Aviateca, Nica, Lacsa and TACA de Honduras) Later TACA Perú joined the group. When this timetable was published, Copa from
Panama was also a member of the group, but later quitted. Nowadays, the
group is simply known as TACA (which was short for Transportes Aéreos
Centro Americanos, Central American Air Transport first, and Transportes Aéreos del Continente Americano, American
Continent Air Transport, later on) They have and strategic alliance
with Avianca and their current network covers much of the continent.
They also have a host of regional affiliate airlines at their "hometown" markets in Central America.
Central
American airlines usually published their timetables in tabular format,
but this one is a bulky "quick refence" showing lots of redundant
information (many connections between city pairs, and also lots of
codeshares between the airlines in the group)

El logo de TACA siempre fue tradicionalmente un guacamayo, y en el logo del grupo aparecían cinco para simbolizar las cinco aerolineas que lo formaban. Recientemente, lo han simplificado en una versión estilizada del pájaro tradicional.
TACA has always used a guacamayo (a kinf of macaw) on their logo, and the grupo TACA showed five birds, symbolizing the five airlines in the group. They had recently adopted a new logo with a more modern, stylized version of the guacamayo

The "Airline Alliance of Central America" was the regional airline alliance which existed before the grupo TACA was born. Lacsa from Costa Rica flew with Airbus A320 and TACA itself had some 767 in its fleet.
