CLASSA Concesionaria de Líneas Aéreas Subvencionadas (ca. 1932?)

Hubo dos "líneas aéreas españolas" en la década de 1930, antes de la guerra civil: la primera, CLASSA, formada durante la dictadura militar  de Primo de Rivera y existió hasta 1932,  año en el que gobierno anuló el contrato con esta empresa y fundó ✈LAPE (Líneas Aéreas Postales Españolas) .

Estoy muy contento de poder compartir estas imágenes hoy con vosotros: por un lado, un billete de ida y vuelta entre Madrid (Getafe) y Sevilla (Tablada) que incluye también un fascinante mapa de la ruta;

Por otro, un horario de vuelos de esta compañía, que aunque no tiene fecha, calculo que es de finales de 1931 o de principios de 1932 porque al igual que estas otras imágenes que colgué en un post anterior corresponden al breve periodo de tiempo en el que la compañía voló con los colores de la bandera republicana. A diferencia del horario, en la portada del billete aparece una mujer que luce ostensiblemente los colores rojo y amarillo de la bandera española  anterior a 1931 y que se volvieron a usar después de 1939.

There were two "Spanish airlines" in the 1930s, before the civil war: the first one, CLASSA, had been formed during the military dictatorship of Primo de Rivera and existed until 1932, when the government cancelled the contract with this company and founded ✈LAPE (Líneas Aéreas Postales Españolas).... 

I am very happy to be able to share these images with you today: on the one hand, a handwritten ticket valid for roundtrip transportation between Madrid (Getafe) and Seville (Tablada) that also includes a fascinating map of the route; 

On the other hand, a flight schedule of this airline , which is undated but I guess it was printed  the in late 1931 or more probably early  1932 because like these other images that I uploaded in a previous post correspond to the short period of time in which CLASSA flew with the colors of the Spanish II Republic flag. Unlike the timetable, the front page of the ticket shows a woman  ostensibly wearing the red and yellow colours of the Spanish flag which were used prior to 1931,which were used again after 1939.

Paper-needing travel ( y III)

A ver, que yo reconozco un cierto encanto en los billetes impresos, y si son manuscritos aun mucho más, pero sigo agradeciendo a Hermes o a algún dios de los viajeros que ya no tengamos que acarrear estos billetes en papel, que además en caso de robo o pérdida daban muchos y serios problemas, aun siendo en teoría nominales.

I can only thank Hermes or any other god of the travellers the day the electronic tickets were introduced. It is not that they were interesting to look at, much more if they were handwritten, but paper tickets were not only cumbersome to carry around, there was the permanent danger of damage or loss of the ticket, which lead to more cumbersome trouble ...

Paper-needing travel (II)

Vivimos en uno de los países con mayor uso y consumo de smartphones, pero aun asi los españoles siguen prefiriendo las tarjetas de embarque impresas ... Si por mi fuera, me podían estampar un código QR en  mano antes de embarcar y sería más feliz. La de sudores fríos que me habrán dado estos cartoncillos ... por lo menos, los de hace años eran mucho más estéticos, los de ahora son muy sosos.

Despite its love for smartphones, Spaniards still chose a printed boarding pass over flashing their digital devices at the gate ... Now, this is certainly a piece of airline memorabilia I certainly don't miss and if possible I'd happily have a QR-code rubber-stamped on my hand rather than carry a piece of paper which I'd easily lose. At least, these boarding passes from some years ago have a nicer look and feel than the soulless ones which are currently on use.

Bonus track: Una tarjeta de embarque de Vueling en blanco, con la información sobre el equipaje de mano admitido a bordo en el reverso. En realidad Vueling en este caso tenía un enfoque de lo más tradicional, aunque en función de las modas y las tendencias de cada momento (y las ganas de hacer ingresos extra y de engañar al público con el no pagues por lo que no necesitas de algunas compañías) pueden cambiar cuando menos te lo esperas o sorprenderte con exóticas propuestas.
