Gexx (Germania Express) (2004/2005)

Siempre me dio la sensación de que Germania era algo así como un verso libre en el panorama de las aerolíneas alemanas, tanto por la flota (como el Fokker 100) como por el tipo de rutas y destinos que operaba.

Hace unos años operaron como compañía de bajo coste con el nombre Germania Express (Gexx), operando con sus Fokker 100 desde aeropuertos principales y a precios fijos (una de las características de su servicio era un esquema simple de precios). Otra particularidad es que volaban tanto desde Tempelhof como desde Tegel en Berlin.

La operación de Gexx terminó cuando Germania adquirió parte de dba ( la antigua ✈Deutsche BA) y esta pasó a operar los Fokker y las rutas de precios bajos.

I always had the feeling that Germania was a cute little independent airline, a free spirit among German airlines, kind of, looking at both their fleet and the routes / destinations they serve.

Some years ago they started a low cost operation, named Gexx (Germania Express), using Fokker 100 from main airports and keeping the fare system simple (they made a point on "flying at fixed prices") . Another interesting point is that Gexx flew from both Tegel and Tempelhof at Berlin.

Gexx was closed when Germania bought a stake on dba (the former ✈Deutsche BA) and it started operating the Fokker on low cost services.

Germania (2011)

Aunque no es tan conocida en España, Germania es otro de los grandes operadores charter alemanes. Durante un tiempo tuvo el control de Deutsche BA / DBA y también operó una low cost , Germania Express (o Gexx), pero recientemente ha recuperado su nombre y actividad tradicional. Actualmente combina los vuelos charter a destinos en el Mediterráneo con una operación de vuelos regulares a países como Siria o Líbano, en los que ofrece una Premium Economy Class.

Germania is another big German charter airline, which has been active for quite some time. At some point they bought the majority of shares of Deutsche BA / DBA and also ran a low cost airline (Germania Express, or Gexx), but they are now currently flying under their own banner and have returned to their "normal" business. That means flying to holiday destinations around the Mediterranean, but they also have some scheduled services to Syria and Lebanon. Those flights feature a Premium Economy Class cabin.
