Aviaco (1993)

Por alguna razón que se me escapa ahora mismo, este horario de Aviaco incluía conexiones interline entre Aviaco y ... ✈Ryanair, que entonces no tenía nada que ver con lo es hoy en día y tenía incluso una cabina Business en sus BAC 1-11.   En la sección de horarios aparecen las conexiones a Dublin y en la de tarifas también aparecen precios conjuntos a otras ciudades irlandesas (Cork, Shannon)

For some reason that I don't quite get right now, this Aviaco timetable included interline connections... with Ryanair, of all carriers. The fares section shows through fares to Dublin, Cork and Shannon and flights with the FR flight number appear listed on the timetable section. Please bear in mind that ✈Ryanair was a whole different airline at the time and it even had a Business Class section in its BAC 1-11.

Soy súper fan de esta sección de "Servicios ofrecidos a bordo". No sólo porque hoy, que todas las aerolíneas españolas se han pasado al menú a bordo de pago en los vuelos domésticos y de corto radio, sería totalmente irreal esperar algo así ; también porque es increíblemente detallado y hasta te precisan en qué vuelos se servía "café con galletas" y en cuáles "café con bollería".

I am a such a fan  of this  "Services offered on board" section . Not only because today it would be totally unrealistic to expect something like this, since all Spanish airlines have switched to the BOB model on domestic and short haul flights,  but also because it is incredibly detailed and they even let you know on which flights  "coffee with biscuits" was served and on which ones a richer  "coffee with pastries"instead.

Ya sé que esta página no es especialmente interesante ni emocionante, pero la pongo porque es un recuerdo de que entonces aun era una novedad que no se pudiera fumar en los vuelos domésticos con una duración inferior a los 90 minutos.

I know that this page is not particularly interesting or exciting, but I post it here  because it is a reminder that  at the time the smoke ban  in domestic flights with a duration under 90 minutes was still a novelty. 

Bonus track: Aviaco no tenía una revista de a bordo propia, pero llevaba en sus vuelos una versión especial (con algunas páginas menos) de la Ronda Iberia.

Me gusta especialmente la presentación de la flota con maquetas de aviones de las compañías del grupo, y también los mapas de rutas específicos de la propia Aviaco y de las otras compañías españolas del grupo: las regionales ✈Binter Canarias y ✈Binter Mediterráneo, y de ✈Viva 
Air.

Esta última, que nunca encontró exactamente su nicho de mercado pero que fue pionera en muchos aspectos, ya se acogía a los primeros paquetes de liberalización del espacio aéreo en la UE y operaba la ruta intracomunitaria París-Lisboa.

Aviaco didn't have an onboard magazine  of its own, but on its flights you could find a reduced version of the Iberia Ronda magazine.  

I especially like how the Grupo Iberia fleet is presented, showing aircraft models of all the airlines in the group.  There is also a very interesting map section showing Aviaco routes and also those of its Spanish sister airlines:   ✈Binter Canarias and ✈Binter Mediterráneo, the regional carriers, and also ✈Viva Air.

The latter, which never found exactly its specific market but was a pioneering airline in many respects and for example  it already offered an intra-UE flight  between Paris and Lisbon. 

Bonus track II 

Aviaco prometía también "Alas para Galicia", una región en la que estaba muy presente (era el principal, y prácticamente único regular, que operaba en Vigo y A Coruña) y en la que ofrecía 64 vuelos semanales. Una cantidad de frecuencias que hoy nos parecen totalmente insuficientes, sin lugar a duda, pero entonces todo 

el mercado gallego movía apenas un poco más de un millón de pasajeros al año. 

At a time when Galicia, with 3 airports, had barely above 1 million air passengers in total, Aviaco was the main operator (and for the most part it was the only one offering scheduled flights) at two of these three airports, VGO and LCG. The airline "gave wings to Galicia" with 64 weekly flights to the region.

Hace bastante tiempo había publicado algunas páginas de este horario de Aviaco en un post anterior; hoy lo incluyo completo, también con la sección de tarifas porque de vez en cuando recibo consultas de gente que quiere saber cuánto costaba un billete de avión de tal a cual sitio en un año determinado

I had already posted some pages from this Aviaco timetable in a previous post a long time ago; Today I am uploading the whole booklet, including the fares section because from time to time people keeps asking me about fare levels and exact ticket prices :)  

LAP Líneas Aéreas Paraguayas (1988) [completo]

En realidad, ya había publicado parte de este horario antes junto con otro parecido de 1989, así que este post es algo a medio camino entre el #repost y la actualización. En cualquier caso, fue hace un montón de tiempo y me pareció lo suficientemente interesante como para que merecería una nueva entrada por si mismo. La próxima semana colgaré el de 1989 también.

I had previously posted some parts from this 1988 Air Paraguay timetable, as well as a similar 1989 brochure, so this is something between a repost and an update; this was, however, a long way ago, so I thought it deserverd a new, standalone entry. I will post the 1989 one next week.
