Air Koryo (2013) [completo]

✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈

The most interesting bits of this Air Koryo timetable are the cover picture and the cabin layouts of their TU-204 planes used in international services.

It seems Air Koryo is pretty prouf of its webpage. It is now offline, but when it was the eticketing was not working.

Smoking is not allowed on any Air Koryo flight, as in most airlines nowadays. I found much more surprising that you can preorder Vegetarian and other special meals.

✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈

An undated timetable from Heli Sécurité, a French helicopter airline based at the French Riviera and which is a clear rival of  ✈Heli Air Monaco, offering almost the same air routes and services. It is still an helicopter airline carrying passengers, but it has currently no sheduled services.

Iberia: 14 diciembre 1927-2013

Iberia started flying exactly 86 years ago, on December 14th, 1927. The airline is certainly not at its best today, but let's have a quick celebration nevertheless having a look at previous aircraft, logos and liveries used by the airline in all these years.

Another souvenir from 1987, when Iberia was 60 years old; these stickers with old airplane drawings were distribuited to passengers onboard.

I posted this poster with all the planes used by Iberia between 1927 and 1997 about two years ago; it was rumoured back then that Iberia was about to change its logo and livery very soon, but it turned out that the change was later delayed because the timing was not the best one. Not that Iberia is doing much better right now, but as you know  it has just announced a few weeks ago its new corporate identity.

Just for the sake of completeness, here is the current fleet (including Iberia Express and Air Nostrum), taken from last month Ronda magazine:

So far the latest planes in the Iberia fleet, the A330 are already here  (there might be some 787 and A350 for Iberia later on, who knows),  and the new logo and livery came with them. We might like it or not, but there is no need to be a drama queen about it; I have said before in Facebook and Twitter that I am not a big fan, but I'll just cope with the new logo.

Whilst the previous logo is already a classic, and a highly recognisable brand, it was in need for a change for a while. Sadly, the new logo is very uninspiring (I am not the only one who specially dislikes the weird typography) Anyhow, there is no need to make a big fuss of all this. At least, the crown is gone and  I also  like the new Iberia Express livery, but then the previous one was so boring that coming with something worse was very difficult.

I just hope Iberia will keep flying many years to come ... someday I will also try to find time to update this timeline with the new livery and the A330.

Gexx (Germania Express) (2004/2005)

✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈

I always had the feeling that Germania was a cute little independent airline, a free spirit among German airlines, kind of, looking at both their fleet and the routes / destinations they serve.

Some years ago they started a low cost operation, named Gexx (Germania Express), using Fokker 100 from main airports and keeping the fare system simple (they made a point on "flying at fixed prices") . Another interesting point is that Gexx flew from both Tegel and Tempelhof at Berlin.

Gexx was closed when Germania bought a stake on dba (the former ✈Deutsche BA) and it started operating the Fokker on low cost services.

Crossair Europe (1999)

✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈

Crossair Europe was launched as a Crossair franchise to benefit of European airline liberalisation. It traded as a French company, taking also advantage on the fact that the Euroairport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg has both a Swiss and a French side.

The airline flew just to a handful of destinations (Ajaccio, Milan, Venice and Marseilles). This timetable gives you a insight view on the hub operation at Basel run by Crossair.

Aviaco (1975/1976)

✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈

This Aviaco timetable does not include any routemap, there are only two bad quality pictures showing a DC-8 (used mainly for charter flights) and a DC-9.

Aviaco had a single internationa route to Argel from Palma; at the time its fleet was composed of Caravelles, DC-9 and Fokker 27 for its domestic legs. Most flights were direct, nonstop services, but there were some interesting multistop flights such as A Coruña - Oviedo - San Sebastián - Barcelona. Aviaco was also flying to Córdoba, an airport which has been deprived of scheduled flights for a very long time (other than Flysur, an attempt of an airline that only lasted a few weeks)

There was an addenda inside this brochure, an update listing cancelled flights and some schedule alterations.

Spanair (1994), "Un nuevo aire"

✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈ ✈✈✈

This brochure was a brief introduction to Spanair when it started domestic scheduled services in Spain in 1994. At the time Spanair was using three marketing slogans, the first one being "Pague menos y viaje mejor" (Pay less, travel better), clearly attacking Iberia low service and high fares. There was also the not-so-inspired "Un nuevo aire" (a new air) and also "Spanair, where the sky is no limit", used in English and probably an heritage of its previous charter-only activities.

This was the  first Spanair schedule, corresponding to the 1994 summer timetable:

This 1994 Spanair timeable is actually a repost; I am uploading it again because I just felt it suited well here. Some of you might not have seen it before.
