In 1996, Air UK was still the third largest airline in the country and was still flying under its own name and corporate identity. This would not last long, though, as the airline would change its name to KLM UK shortly after. Besides its domestic network, it also flew to some European destinations, including Madrid, using several Fokker models in its fleet. Some flights were operated by Gill Airways or Proteus, a small French airline.
