In the early 90's, SAS was just flying to Madrid and Barcelona from Copenhagen and Stockholm, plus it also had some flights to Málaga and Alicante. Connecting flights to Helsinki and to the Far West were also provided.
There were many tourists from the Northern countries visiting Spain, but many of them used charter airlines (including SAS subsidiary Scanair) and some years later SAS shrunk even more its Spain presence, as Spanair started operating as a scheduled airline. Scandinavian Airlines has been lately introducing several new flights to Spain from its home market in the three Scandinavian countries.
